INSOMNIA - MIA ROSE BRAKE

I met Mia Rose Brake in march at M4Music Festival, Switzerland’s largest networking event and since then we’ve become good acquaintances. Instead of giving out business cards, Mia surprisingly gave out cup coasters, one of which I’m using as I write this review. Something else that has surprised me is her musical diversity with each release so far. I personally really enjoyed ‘‘Somersault‘‘.

“Insomnia” by Mia Rose Brake is the third single from her debut EP ‘‘In Your Head‘‘ scheduled for release in early 2027. The song opens with a really powerful but honest lyric “it’s 4am, not a week of sleep I’ve got” and a punky electric guitar. The chorus is the ultimate crash-out of just wanting to go to sleep - quite literally singing ‘‘can’t fall asleep, and it’s starting to piss me off‘‘ which is something that this song, sadly won’t help with as it’s too catchy.

When asked about origin of the song, Mia said:

"The song was written at 4 a.m. after a long night of tossing and turning. I was fed up with all these fruitless attempts to sleep, and I didn’t want another sleepless night to go to waste. So I wrote a song”

Mia’s mission is to reach those who are still struggling with issues she has struggled with in her life, and to show them that there is always hope for a better future. So if you’ve ever needed a rock queen to soundtrack your life, Mia Rose Brake is your girl!

‘‘Insomnia‘‘ is out this Friday 23/10/2026.
